Clay joined The Advocates after having been an attorney in Denver for nearly 15 years as well as having served in a management role focused on recruiting attorneys and staff.
As an attorney, Clay’s practice focused primarily on civil litigation matters and he has tried numerous cases in County Court, District Courts and has successfully argued before the Colorado Court of Appeals. His management role focused on recruiting all levels of employees, ranging from front desk personnel to partner-level attorneys.
With his experience as a litigation partner and serving in management, Clay has been involved in the recruiting process, both as a client and candidate. This background provides him with a unique perspective of the importance of understanding the priorities and personalities of both sides of a hire as well as the legal market in general.
Prior to attending University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Clay’s professional career began in talent-evaluation roles for two NFL teams. In those roles, his focus was on the assessment of football players to evaluate strengths, weakness and tendencies of those players, both on and off the field, as well as their respective potential roles on the team.
His combined experience in the legal field and talent evaluation gives Clay a unique understanding of the advantages in developing an in-depth understanding of the needs of both employers and prospective employees to ensure the right fit for all parties involved.
